Explore the magic of Marrakech with Hind

“I love the timeless, dreamy and eternally sunny magic of Marrakech in my native Morocco. And the world wide capital of the golden hour glow.”

My perfect day in Marrakech starts with a traditional Moroccan breakfast at a riad, one of my favourite being the iconic Dar Darma. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the medina, Dar Darma is an intimate and exclusive oasis of calm in the bustling streets of the ancient old medina and a perfect place to wake up to whilst enjoying a sweet Moroccan mint tea, a traditional Moroccan pancake ( melloui or mesmen) or two, or three… when we love we don’t count, no?
I love escaping to Marrakech in the spring or the fall, a perfect getaway and an instant boost of transportive magic and warmth, only three short hours from London.
Following breakfast, it’s time to go wander and soak in the magic of the city starting with a visit to the Bahia Palace, a stunning example of Moroccan architecture, featuring intricate tile work, beautiful courtyards, and lush gardens. Continue the adventure by visiting the Saadian Tombs - elaborately decorated tombs dating back to the Saadian – or venture over to the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech, with its impressive minaret visible from various parts of the city.
-
“There is so much to see as I stroll through centuries old sun drenched alleys and plazas that transcend past, present and future in a unique transportive experience.”
For Lunch I stop for lunch by the iconic La Mamounia, one of the most iconic and luxurious hotels in Marrakech, renowned for its glamourous history dating back to the 18th century, exquisite architecture of Moorish and art deco heritage, and beautifully landscaped gardens with intricate tile work that exudes opulence and charm. Enjoy one of the best authentic Moroccan cuisine in town - my personal favourite is the mezzo of salads and chicken taken with another Moroccan mint tea.
-
After a leisurely lunch and walk around the grounds, now is my favourite time - a Moroccan Hammam in the magnificent La Mamounia spa, to rejuvenate body and mind.
I close the day by enjoying my third Moroccan mint tea at sunset overlooking the hustle and bustle of the place Jemaa El Fna by night. For a hungry a late night snack, I visit one of the impressive stalls of street food before heading back to my riad to dream of more days spend enjoying the balmy weather and sunshine pool hoping across the palmeraie…
